boxed in
In this body of work I set out to critique the produce-consume-discard cycle that is often taken for granted in our culture, and in the process I was forced to examine my own role in this system. The sculptures that resulted from this analysis are not a conclusion to the questions I posed, but rather are a part of my ongoing investigation. These pieces deal with my conflicted feelings about being a consumer participating in the global marketplace. I am both celebrating the abundance of products and services that are available to satisfy my every need, and mourning the enormous toll that is being taken on the environment to provide me with this vast array of choices.
